The researchers summarized that, “A stronger evidence base to guide clinical decision-making may be helpful for improving timely diagnosis of colorectal cancer, particularly when patients present with rectal bleeding. Given the complexity of the diagnostic evaluation of rectal bleeding, comprehensive assessments at initial presentation, improved care coordination across primary care and specialty settings, and the implementation of targeted interventions may help facilitate risk stratification and prevent missed or delayed diagnoses of colorectal cancer.”
