The Elusive and Illusive Quest for Diagnostic Safety Metrics

Diagnostic errors have become one of the leading types of errors cited in medical malpractice claims, and the authors dig into the ways in which the diagnostic process is measured by a number of groups in order to critique current measurements of quality and safety.

By looking into quality and safety metrics of other industries, such as manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, the authors help to frame ways in which methods of measurement from those fields may be beneficial to the diagnostic process in the healthcare field as well.
