  • Senior Clinical Taxonomy Specialist

Ann Doherty serves as the Senior Clinical Taxonomy Specialist for Patient Safety Services for both CRICO and CRICO Strategies division. She provides analytic reviews of the medical malpractice cases by identifying the circumstances that may have contributed to the allegations, injuries or the initiation of a claim. She is responsible for the application and development of the proprietary Clinical Coding Taxonomy, which is the foundation for CRICO’s malpractice claims analytical process.

Ms. Doherty works with Patient Safety Directors to develop a data-driven plan that is presented to our facilities to enhance their patient safety programs and help them prioritize loss prevention initiatives. She identifies and responds to all training requirements for CRICO and Strategies customers ensuring consistency across all Comparative Benchingmarking System clients. She is also responsible for the development and execution of the annual Coding Collaborative conference which involves acquisition of faculty, course development and evaluation.

Ms. Doherty has over 18 years of nursing experience which includes Nurse Consulting, Care Coordination and Case Management. She received a bachelor’s degree from Simmons College, and an RN from New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She also holds a CCM certification.
