Matthew Germak, MD, MPH is Vice President of Patient Safety at CRICO. In this role, Matt and his team are responsible for partnering with the Harvard medical institutions and their affiliates to provide analytical, educational, and other programmatic services, which promote safety initiatives that mitigate risk to enhance patient and staff safety in all environments of care.
Matt brings an extensive background in patient safety, quality improvement, and risk management. Previously he has been Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care’s (BILHPC) first Chief Quality and Safety Officer and a primary care physician for eight years at Needham Family Medicine Practice. He established the BILHPC Patient and Family Advisory Council and chairs the BILH Ambulatory Patient Experience Steering Committee. Matt also formerly chaired the BILH Ambulatory Patient Safety Subcommittee.
Matt attended the University of Michigan for his Bachelor of Arts and received his MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. From there he completed his Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency training at Brown University. He was also a graduate of CRICO and Harvard Medical School’s Fellowship in Patient Safety and Quality and received his MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Matt also attended Berklee College of Music for graduate studies.
