Design and Implementation of the Harvard Fellowship in Patient Safety and Quality

CRICO’s vision in funding this two-year physician-oriented training program was to expose clinicians to the nuances between risk, quality, and safety through the lens of malpractice. Fellows spend a significant time at CRICO to develop a more detailed understanding of malpractice claims and litigation and the potential patient safety implications for risk reduction. Also, the companion article that appears in the AJMQ titled, “Creating a Fellowship Curriculum in Patient Safety and Quality,” describes the making of the program’s curriculum across the Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospitals.
